Free Wireless Internet Available In Buildings Across Stamford

The city and the Board of Education will coordinate to provide free and open wireless internet networks in school buildings across Stamford.

STAMFORD, CT — City officials announced Friday they have coordinated with the Board of Education to provide free and open wireless internet networks in school buildings across Stamford.

In a statement, officials said residents can access these wireless networks from their vehicles, ensuring residents can receive important updates about storm response and power restoration efforts while maintaining social distance. Residents can also go to the following schools in Stamford to use the wireless network "Stamford Guest" for free internet access. No password is required:

  • Cloonan Middle School, 11 W North Street (back of the building)
  • Dolan Middle School, 51 Toms Road
  • Hart Elementary School, 61 Adams Avenue
  • Northeast Elementary School, 82 Scofieldtown Road
  • Scofield Magnet Middle School, 641 Scofieldtown Road
  • Springdale Elementary School, 1127 Hope Street
  • Toquam Elementary School, 123 Ridgewood Avenue
  • Stamford High School, 55 Strawberry Hill Avenue (back of the building)
  • Westhill High School, 125 Roxbury Road (front side parking lot)

Residents can also utilize the Stamford Partnership's "SWIFI" wireless network in downtown Stamford. A map of SWIFI's coverage can be found here.

Officials also remind residents that all public Optimum WiFi is available to non-subscribers during state of emergencies.

According to Altice, the parent company of Optimum, roughly 31 percent of Connecticut customers are offline, with the majority of outages due to lack of commercial power. Altice recommends customers contact them through social media to advise them of service issues.

Customers can also contact Altice through the "message" function at optimum.net to chat with live agents and identify service issues.

According to the Eversource's outage map, over 4,500 Stamford residents are still without power as of noon Friday.
