Gas Main Break Caused Emergency Closures In Stamford, Eversource Says

Three streets in the downtown Stamford area were closed for most of Thursday.

STAMFORD, CT — A gas main break caused emergency street closures in the downtown Stamford area Thursday, according to Eversource, who responded to the scene "immediately" to render the area safe.

Stamford police announced early Thursday that Bedford Street, Spring Street and Forest Street were closed in the downtown area due to emergency infrastructure repair work.

A third party contractor hit a gas main while working on Bedford Street Thursday, Eversource spokesperson Tricia Taskey Modifica told Patch via email Friday afternoon.
