Hi There, Stamford: I'm Your New Local Editor [PHOTOS]

I'm so excited to be in a city that's taken the best parts of my hometown haunts, stuck them in the Hadron Collider and - instead of destroying the universe - made it so much more beautiful.

My name is DJ McAneny and I'm the new Stamford local editor. [This article now contains 100% more pictures of my face!]

So, here's the thing. I wasn't supposed to come here. I was supposed to head on out to the great Midwest and plunk down in the middle of a town that would've isolated me for an hour-and-a-half on all sides.

Instead, my bosses called me up and said, "Hey, DJ. Scratch that. You're going to Connecticut."

So, instead of massive, wide-open plains and cows (which I'm sure are beautiful), I was sent to what feels like the love child of the big city and a quiet shore town.

I couldn't be happier.

Cows are nice, sure, but when I get to see skyscrapers and the ocean in the same walk to the grocery store, it blows me away.

That's a bit of an exaggeration, of course, but a 10-minute drive is all that separates what would've taken me more than an hour to experience before.

And while there's Atlantic City, Stamford feels a bit cleaner, a bit shinier and maintains some of that prestigious city feel over Atlantic City's tourist-y, gimmick-y bright lights and casino tables.

If you haven't figured it out yet, confession time: I'm from the Southern New Jersey-Philadelphia region.

I know. I know. But let's not hate each other. Philly will always be home. It'll always be where my family is. But Stamford is where I am, and I'm looking to call this place home for quite some time, so let's put aside our differences.

I live on a lovely street with a great view of this amazing city right out my back window, and when I woke up this morning, I was unimaginably excited at the prosepect of trying to meet as many of the 120,000+ of you as possible.

I've posted some photos of the things I've discovered in this city so far, and I hope you'll all feel free to contact me regularly and let me know any number of things:

 - Tell me how I'm doing covering the news in your community. I want to know you're happy with the coverage and the variety of content we publish. What do you want to see more of? I'll do everything within my power to satisfy your needs.

 - Tell me where I should be. For news or fun or anything in between. I want to discover all the nooks and crannies of Stamford so, if you know of something going on, no event is too trivial to pique my interest in learning just a tiny bit more.

 - Where can I watch the Eagles, Phillies or Flyers with the least amount of affliction.

And thank you. Thank you for letting me be a part of this city, of something so beautiful. I hope we get to be super best friends. I've only been here a couple of days but I know I really like it here and I'm excited for what's to come.

If you see me on the street, please come up and say hello! I'll have a profile photo on my profile in the near future - just as soon as I find in which box I packed my electric razor...
