ID Released Of Pedestrian Killed After Being Struck By 4 Cars On I-95 In Stamford: CT State Police

Three of the four cars left the scene after the early-morning incident, according to the Connecticut State Police.

STAMFORD, CT — Connecticut State Police have identified the pedestrian who was killed after being struck by four cars - three of which fled the scene - on I-95 in Stamford on Nov. 19.

The deceased was identified as Jose Daniel Martinez-Perez, 34, a Stamford resident with an unknown address, according to an incident report released Friday by state police. A next-of-kin death notification has been made.

The incident occurred at approximately 6:24 a.m. on Nov. 19 when Martinez-Perez was within the right travel lane of I-95 North just before exit 6, state police said.

In their initial update after the incident, state police said it was unknown why Martinez-Perez was on the highway.

Martinez-Perez was struck by a vehicle and thrown to the left part of the highway, state police said, noting the vehicle left the scene.

Two more evading vehicles struck the pedestrian, and another vehicle became disabled after it couldn't avoid striking the pedestrian while merging from the center lane to the left lane, according to state police. The driver of the fourth vehicle stayed at the scene.

No other information was obtained on the three evading vehicles, police noted.

The northbound lanes between exits 4 and 5 on I-95 were closed for several hours as authorities conducted an investigation.
