City Man Arrested for Threatening Wife With Knife

The Main Street man showed up at a party where children were present brandishing the weapon, according to police.

A man from the 900 block of Main Street was arrested and charged following an incident at a party where he threatened his wife by holding a knife to her throat, police said Monday.

Rony Diaz, 31, faces a slew of charges, including two counts of risking injury to a child family member and numerous weapons and assault charges, after the incident.

According to authorities, Diaz and his wife — identified as the victim in the case — had an argument earlier in the day over a speeding violation Diaz had received.

Authorities were dispatched to this incident and separated the couple and the alleged victim left to attend the party at which the later incident would occur, they said.

Diaz allegedly followed the victim to the party and grabbed her around the neck while holding a knife to her throat. The victim's brother managed to separate the two and lock the victim in the house. Police say another party-goer attempted to remove the knife from Diaz possession, but failed.
