Stamford Woman, 84, Shares Christmas Memories Of Santa

Patch has partnered with T-Mobile to share local children's letters to Santa (and other festive musings) this holiday season.

STAMFORD, CT — Writing a letter to Santa is a treasured tradition for many Stamford families. They’re a lens into the magic of the holiday season through the eyes of a child.

We’ve partnered with T-Mobile so we can all share in their joy. While this submission by 84-year-old Anna E. Schmid in Stamford is not a letter, it tells the story of why Santa was important to her as a child:

"I am an 84-year-old woman without children. However I love to share a funny story. When I was small Santa was very important to me. I like most little children asked for everything under the sun. My mother and father had five children and they did not want to disappoint anyone of us. I was the last one. When I woke up Christmas morning I always received just nice gifts. With all the excitement I forgot I didn't get one gift that I asked for. So, I went to my mother and asked her what happened I didn't get the other doll. My mother said, well you have an Italian Santa who comes from Italy and on the way he lost the other doll! She said, don't worry a little girl in Italy just like you has the other doll and now your doll has a sister. I was so happy that my doll had a sister in Italy! Now, I know this is not the story you wanted but I do think of it every Christmas and smile. I hope whoever reads this smiles just like me. Merry Christmas, especially to my mom!"

Please note: Your child’s letter may be shared with your community to help spread holiday cheer. However, all fulfillment requests need to be routed separately to the North Pole and/or Santa himself. In other words, these letters are just for fun: Santa won’t be checking the lists on Patch.
