Why are you seeking this office?
I believe we have done some great work for Stamford and I want to continue to see our city thrive. I have been in service my entire adult life and understand that patience, listening, honesty, accountability, and leadership go a long way. I want to continue to build on the progress we have made with infrastructure and quality of life initiatives while maintaining accountability and fiscal responsibility.
The single most pressing issue facing my constituents is ____, and this is what I intend to do about it:
Quality of life sums up a lot of the issues facing my constituents. This includes infrastructure and road repairs, as well as taxes and affordability. I have worked with the administration to see that local infrastructure projects like sidewalks and other pedestrian safety initiatives are not only conceptualized but implemented. An example is the new sidewalk at Newfield Elementary. We also need a city that people can feel comfortable knowing that they can retire in Stamford. We have to focus on keeping taxes low and ensuring the city's economic growth remains consistent and healthy.
What are the major differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?
I respect anyone who is willing to volunteer their time in order to help their community. I am willing to work with all people, regardless of party affiliation, to help make our community a better place. At the end of the day, we travel the same roads, our kids attend the same schools, and we are all neighbors.
What other issues do you intend to address during your campaign?
I have spoken about infrastructure and affordability, but I know there are other important issues that constituents face daily that may not impact everyone equally, such as building permitting or veterans' resources. My job is to make sure that my constituents know that I am here to help them find the answers they need. And while I am campaigning, I am also learning more and more about the people that make up our community and how I can help their individual needs.
What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?
I have worked with many departments within the city to help improve our city parks and infrastructure, such as the construction of new tennis courts at Scalzi and sidewalks throughout the city. In addition, we now have the formation of Stamford Parks Community Partnership, which will be a great benefit to Stamford and strengthen our relationship with our population and private sector. I work well with many different departments in order to bring projects over the finish line.
What is the best advice anyone ever gave you?
My tenure at West Point and my time as an officer in the Army taught me many things, but "Lead from the front" always stands out.
Is there anything else you would like voters to know about yourself and your positions?
No matter how big or small you think the issue is, please let me know how I can help. This is our community. We'll find a solution.
