No

Previous public office, appointive or elective:
Yes, Board of Finance, Board of Education and Currently serving on Zoning Board

Why are you seeking this office?
I’m running for Town Clerk because accountability and transparency matter.

As a past member of the Board of Finance, I was trained to recognize when audits or filings were not in compliance. In those moments, our responsibility was to serve as a check and balance notifying the administration and the Board of Representatives of any financial failures within the Office of Policy and Management.

When audits are delayed or filings are missed, it puts Stamford’s AAA bond rating at risk and that ultimately costs taxpayers more when the city borrows money for important projects and improvements.

Even though OPM operates as a state agency, its filings are kept in the Town Clerk’s Office. That’s why this office must be led by someone who understands finance, compliance, and the importance of protecting Stamford’s fiscal integrity.

The single most pressing issue facing my constituents is ____, and this is what I intend to do about it:
The most pressing issue in the Town Clerk’s Office

is accessibility in both language and voting. With the new no-excuse absentee voting law, every registered voter can now request a mail-in ballot without giving a reason. This expands access but also increases the Clerk’s responsibility to make the process clear and fair for all.

Stamford is the third most diverse city in Connecticut, and many residents face language barriers. With my background in Spanish, I will work to modernize the office with translation tools and clear online systems so every resident can confidently access services and vote.

From day one, I plan to conduct a top-down review of programs, staffing, and costs to ensure every improvement from language access to voting technology is efficient, transparent, and sustainable for the people of Stamford.

What are the major differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?
The major differences between myself and my opponents are rooted in my broad experience and proven public service. I have served on both elected and appointed boards, including the Board of Finance, where I worked on municipal budgets, and the Board of Education, where I served as Vice President. I currently serve on the Zoning Board, where I earned bipartisan support from both the Board of Representatives and the Mayor.
I am also the only candidate who speaks Spanish and English, with additional knowledge of Russian. My diverse experience and multilingual background make me the most qualified and well-rounded candidate to serve as Stamford’s next Town Clerk.

What other issues do you intend to address during your campaign?
Another key issue in this campaign is ensuring that the new no-excuse absentee ballot process is managed efficiently and securely by my team. We will develop a civic internship program for college students to engage in public service and gain hands-on experience in municipal government. This initiative will help modernize our technology and strengthen understanding of public records, meeting minutes, and the democratic process. For too long, the Town Clerk’s Office has operated behind closed doors. I will restore an open-door policy so residents can easily access their certificates and records.

What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?
My current experience includes working closely with the Town Clerk’s Office to process death certificates, as well as managing staff members and serving on the Zoning Board, where I’ve gained valuable experience with zoning and property records for the City of Stamford.
I also bring a strong understanding of state statutes and the city charter through my service on the Board of Finance and the Board of Education, where I held leadership roles as President and Vice President. In these positions, I was responsible for developing and managing budgets, demonstrating both financial and administrative expertise that directly align with the responsibilities of the Town Clerk’s Office.

What is the best advice anyone ever gave you?
The best advice anybody gave me was: In public office, success isn’t measured by personal recognition but by how effectively you make life better for others. Be transparent, accessible, and willing to make tough decisions guided by facts and fairness

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about yourself and your positions?
Thank you to the Stamford Patch and its readers for the opportunity to share my vision. I hope Stamford voters will support me by voting B2 in this election — for Accessibility, Integrity, and Efficiency.
