Party Affiliation:
Republican.
Occupation:
Retired since July 3 2025
Family:
Yes. I am married to Thomas Lombardo and have two sons, Justin and Gregory who is married to my daughter in law, Melanie. All of whom live in Stamford.
Does anyone in your family work in politics or government?
Previous public office, appointive or elective:
I have served on the Personnel Commission and the Social Service Commission.
Why are you seeking this office?
I would like to see sound fiscal management in our city. We must remember that we are spending taxpayers dollars and not our own. Stamford has proudly maintained a AAA bond rating for decades, preserving that rating should remain a top priority. Increasing density without upgrading infrastructure is not sustainable or healthy for the residents. Additionally rents are not affordable. Many of those who have a vested interest in the long term well being of Stamford can no longer afford to live here. Deeply affordable housing is necessary in this city and it should not come from the residents who have selected Stamford as a place to raise their children.
The single most pressing issue facing my constituents is ____, and this is what I intend to do about it:
Cost of housing and rising taxes for long term residents. Revisiting our current Tax obligations and how those funds are being spent. Maintaining a rainy day fund.
What are the major differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?
I have lived here for 45 years. My Wall Street experience made it possible to build The Food Bank of Lower Fairfield County. This foodbank is the only foodbank in lower Fairfield County. During my 25 years of working as the Executive Director, I have a unique insight into the lives of thousands of people living here. Working two to three jobs trying to make ends meet is a daily challenge. When my younger son was in primary school I volunteered for the community. I have been awarded many honors, Salvation Army Person of the year, Abilis Community Partner of the year and most humbling the NAACP Humanitarian Person Award. This town has been good to me and I desire to continue to give back.
What other issues do you intend to address during your campaign?
Getting to know more individuals and their concerns. Helping where I can and seeking help for them from Stamford's huge non-profit sector. In short never loosing the common touch.
What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?
Introducing HUSKY to the school system. 25 years of running The Foodbank and leaving it fiscally sound. The Food Bank owns the building at 461 Glenbrook Road. The building is mortgage free. It has a healthy balance sheet and continues to distribute millions of pounds of food to non-profits agencies. Some of these non-profits are The women and family housing, The Men's Shelter, Senior Programs, Person to Person and many other Pantries. When a non-profit saves money on food it leaves them able to more beds, hire an additional Social Worker and / or spend money saved on food for repairs.
What is the best advice anyone ever gave you?
Admit what you don't know, listen and be Collaborative.
Is there anything else you would like voters to know about yourself and your positions?
My history on Wall Street which began at THE NYSE in the Department of Regulation and Surveillance and ending at Goldman Sachs in the Legal and Compliance Department. I travelled the world for work. All of this taught me that there are right ways and costly wrong ways to conduct business. When business is done properly one does not need to spend more money to fix it.
