Why are you seeking this office?
I am seeking this office for two reasons. On a personal note, I have wanted to run for office since High School. I have considered running for Board of Reps for a while and decided it was now or never. The other reason I have decided to run is that I strongly believe all politics are local and we need both young and engaged representatives that will steer Stamford into the future while recognizing the concerns and doubts many have about development in Stamford.
The single most pressing issue facing my constituents is ____, and this is what I intend to do about it:
"The Single most pressing issue facing my constituents is their ability to get value for the taxes they pay." Many residents of Stamford say that they love the city and never want to leave. However, an overwhelming number express disdain for poorly maintained roads, increasing traffic, and raising property taxes with nothing to show in return. The disdain is justified and heard across the city. As a member of the Board of Reps, I will focus on improving the value that residents receive from our government. I want the residents of Stamford to feel that their tax dollars go towards maintaining and improving the City they know and love.
What are the major differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?
A few major differences exist between myself and other candidates seeking this post. Unlike other candidates, I do not own real estate in Stamford because I cannot afford it. I am uniquely aware of the affordability crisis in Stamford. I also have a degree in history. I have a strong ability to research and understand different perspectives on a variety of topics.
What other issues do you intend to address during your campaign?
I am addressing the poor conditions of the roads in my district. A majority of citizens that I talk with complain about the state of our roads in District 16.
What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?
1. Social Studies Teacher: I am an excellent multitasker and can handle an overwhelming amount of tasks.
2. Volunteer Firefighter and Asst Treasurer: My experience as an Asst. Treasurer has taught me how to handle and review banking accounts of a small non-profit. My overall experience as a firefighter help me make decisions in complex and rapidly involving situations
What is the best advice anyone ever gave you?
1. Often, it is better to make a wrong decision than no decision at all.
Is there anything else you would like voters to know about yourself and your positions?
