STAMFORD, CT — When times are tough, heroes emerge. We all know someone who's making a difference right now as we live through unprecedented and changing times.

Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these heroes making a difference in their communities. Together with Ring, we're working to let all your neighbors know about these outstanding people and their stories.

This submission comes from Matthew Bradford who nominated Kristine Pantchenko of Stamford. Pantchenko is Bradford's fiancé and works at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City.

Home town: Stamford

Hero's job: Health Care

If other, job: Registered Nurse

Relationship to nominee: Fiancé

Reason for recognition: My fiancé works at Mount Sinai Hospital in NYC as an oncology nurse and is working towards her doctorate degree at Sacred Heart University. During the pandemic, she used any free time to start community initiatives to help her neighbors.

One thing to know: She started a mask/PPE donation project, had baskets for donating food to the homeless installed in all harbor point apartments and had grocery list books placed in all HP apartments so the elderly could get food without leaving their home.

Thank you for all you do, Kristine Pantchenko!
