Stamford Christmas Tree Curbside Pickup 2026 Information Released

The city of Stamford will begin curbside pick up of Christmas trees soon. Here's what you need to know.

STAMFORD, CT — The city of Stamford will begin curbside pick up of Christmas trees in early 2026, according to information posted to the city's website.

Christmas tree collection is currently scheduled to begin Jan. 12 in Stamford, according to the city.

Residents are asked to ensure their tree is placed on their curb, as the city will only be making one round of pick ups this year, city officials noted.

The following Christmas tree pick up guidelines were provided by the city:

  • Trees placed curbside cannot have any decorations on them.
  • Trees cannot be placed in plastic bags or wrapped in plastic.
  • No brush, grass clippings or bulky waste will be picked up.
  • Plastic Christmas trees will not be picked up.

Residents can also immediately take their trees to either the Katrina Mygatt Recycling Center, located at 130 Magee Avenue, or the Scale House, located at 101 Harborview Avenue.

According to the city, the Scale House is open from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday through Saturday, while the Katrina Mygatt Recycling Center is open from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday.

The city's Highways Department may continue curbside pickup throughout the end of the month, weather permitting. To ensure trees are disposed of properly, the city asks residents to please bring their tree to a city recycling center.

Residents who are unable to bring their tree to a recycling center must place their tree curbside no later than Jan. 11, 2026, according to the city.

The city's Recycling and Sanitation Department will begin picking up Christmas trees at condominiums during the week of Jan. 20, a process that will take approximately two weeks, weather permitting, according to the city.
