Stamford Memorial Day Parade 2025: What You Need To Know

Here are details about this year's parade, including the route and grand marshal.

STAMFORD, CT — The 2025 Stamford Memorial Day parade is less than a month away.

The Stamford Patriotic & Special Events Commission, in conjunction with the Stamford Veterans Council, Stamford Veterans Park Partnership and Stamford Veterans Resource Center, invite the public to the parade on Sunday, May 18.

The parade will step off at 12 p.m. and travel from the Stamford Police Department to Veterans Memorial Park via Bedford Street, across Broad Street and continuing on Atlantic Street.

A ceremony will immediately follow in Veterans Memorial Park, 130 Atlantic St.

This year's parade grand marshal is Anthony Venezio, a lifelong Stamford resident and served in the U.S. Army in Korea during the Vietnam War.

Venezio received an Army Commendation Medal for assisting in eliminating mail fraud, black-marketing activities, and developing a new Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for mail runs.

In 1972, Venezio returned to Stamford and worked for the US Postal Service on Atlantic Street. Two years later, he received orders to report to the Pentagon for two weeks of reserve training and was assigned as a clerk in the office of the Chief of Army Reserve.

Other awards Venezio received include the National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Korea), and the U.S. Army Commendation Medal. He was fully discharged from the U.S. Army in May 1977.

Last year, Venezio was part of a group of veterans honored for their service by the City of Stamford Citizen of the Year event.
