Stamford Woman Arrested for Allegedly Hiding Blade During Stop

One of two passengers arrested by police on drug charges Thursday during a traffic stop also faces weapons charges for allegedly attempting to hide a razor blade between her fingers while she was being searched, police said Thursday.

Officers driving behind a vehicle in the area of Seaside Avenue and Cove Road at approximately 3 a.m. reportedly witnessed the vehicle in front of them drifting across the double yellow lines in the roadway on two occasions and conducted a traffic stop, police said.

According to authorities, as they were parked behind the vehicle, police could see the two passengers moving about and reaching to several different areas of the cabin.

Police identified the driver of the vehicle as Kelly Palmer, 41, of Connecticut Ave., and passenger as Judy Taylor, 60, of Halloween Blvd.

It was discovered during the course of the traffic stop that Palmer was allegedly operating the vehicle with a suspended license,according to police. As Palmer was placed under arrest and officers called for a tow, Taylor got out of the vehicle for a search, police said.

As Taylor stepped out of the vehicle, police allege the officers spotted a razor blade Taylor was attempting to conceal between her fingers when she placed her hands on the top of the car. Taylor allegedly told the officers she carried the blade for protection.

Two glass tubes commonly used for smoking crack cocaine and three plastic baggies of the drug were allegedly found in a bag inside the car, police said.

Palmer faces charges of failure to drive right and illegal operation of a motor vehicle under suspension. Taylor was charged with carrying a dangerous weapon, possession of drug paraphernalia and illegal possession of narcotics.

Other Arrests

Ronald Bethea, 58, of Tresser Blvd., was charged Wednesday morning with two counts of second-degree failure to appear.

Erick Nehemias Palma-Mendez, 28, of Garden St., was charged Wednesday night with violation of a motor vehicle license class and improper rear marker lamps.

Thomas Thompson, 35, of Soundview Ave., was charged Wednesday night with possession of narcotics and sale of certain illegal drugs.
