Stamford Woman Convicted of Stealing Thousands from Grandmother
Authorities said the woman had access to several of her grandmother's accounts.

A 38-year-old Stamford woman has been found guilty of siphoning at least $20,000 from her grandmother’s bank accounts following a two-day trial in state Superior Court in Stamford.
Heather Gansel, who is a Stamford chiropractor and former fitness club owner, was found guilty of first-degree larceny in connection with the theft of least $20,000 from her 92-year-old grandmother before the woman died in 2012, according to The Advocate.
Gansel was arrested in December 2012 after her uncle discovered there wasn’t any money in several bank accounts his mother had. At the time of her arrest, Stamford police investigators said they believed Gansel siphoned nearly $500,000 from the elderly woman’s accounts.
