Stephen King's MISERY to play in Stamford for the first time

Curtain Call presentation runs October 30 thru November 16 in Dressing Room Theatre

While all things spooky are popping up this time of year, Curtain Call in Stamford will be premiering the stage adaptation of Stephen King's best-selling novel, MISERY, October 30 through November 16, in the Dressing Room Theatre.

"I'm a huge fan of King's writing and was, like many, on the edge of my seat both while reading the book and watching the 1990 film version of MISERY," said Lou Ursone, Curtain Call executive director and producer for the show. "The fact that the film is 35 years old while we're celebrating our 35th season seemed serendipitous," he added. This is the first time the stage version has been presented in Stamford.

Adapted by screenwriter, William Goldman, this production is directed by Kevin McNair, featuring Scott Ferrara, Jenny Maso, and Jonathan Rudolph. Costume design is by Megan Latte Morello, scenic design by Meghan Connolly and lighting design by Jamie LaJoie.

Misery follows successful romance novelist Paul Sheldon, who is rescued from a car crash by his “number one fan,” Annie Wilkes, and wakes up captive in her secluded home. While Paul is convalescing, Annie reads his latest book and becomes enraged when she discovers the author has killed off her favorite character, Misery Chastain. Annie forces Paul to write a new Misery novel, and he quickly realizes Annie has no intention of letting him go anywhere. The irate Annie has Paul writing as if his life depends on it, and it does. (Mature themes and language...not recommended for under 16.)
