By noon Monday, less than one percent of Connecticut Light & Power's customers in Stamford were still affected by an outage caused by a tree that fell into power lines earlier that morning.
Only 552 customers remained without power, or .99-percent of the 55,567 customers in the city. However, in Greenwich 26,648 of the 27,910 customers were still without power, a 95-percent outage, according to CL&P's outage map.
CL&P tweeted out the above photo of the offending tree, and said the were working closely with "town, state and railroad officials to remove the tree and complete repair work as quickly and safely as possible," but stated repairs could last well into the evening, estimating as lat as 8 p.m. in some places.
The outage is affecting the Metro-North line through Stamford and Greenwich and causing massive delays. The railway is currently running Diesel and Combined trains to avoid the issues with the electric models.
Metro-North says delays are reaching 30-minutes or more, and customers should listen for instructions at their terminals.
