Stamford Man, New Haven Man Arrested on Drug Charges During Stop

Police conducting a motor vehicle stop because of tinted windows ended up making two arrests Monday night after finding drugs during the stop, police announced Tuesday.

Michael Wade Johnson, 31, of Vernon Pl., and Rodney Hughes Williamson, 43, of Springside Ave. in New Haven, were both arrested when authorities discovered marijuana and cocaine in the vehicle during the stop, police said.

According to authorities, a stop was initially conducted as the vehicle had a dark level of tinting on the windows but had no required sticking declaring the level of the tint, a violation.

During the traffic stop, officers noticed Johnson and Williamson moving about in the vehicle, police said. When asked to reveal what was going on, authorities were able to visually identify a quantity drugs in a package poking out from underneath the seat , they said.

Williamson, the passenger of the vehicle, faces charges of possession of a narcotic, possession of a controlled substance, sale of a certain illegal drug, sale of a narcotic. Johnson faces all those charges and an additional charge of failure to carry a tinted glass sticker for being the driver of the vehicle.

Authorities said the packaging of the alleged narcotics led to the inclusion of the selling charges. Both parties are being held in leiu of $50,000 bond and were scheduled to appear in court Tuesday.

Other Arrests:

Oliva Alexis Lachelier, 21, of Park Ave. in Bridgeport, was arrested on larceny/shoplifting charges.

Frieda Michelle Hunt , 46, of S. Pacific St., was arrested on failure to appear charges.

Jamar Ray Burgess, 31, of Robbins Ave., was charged with violation of probation.
