UPDATE: Stamford Shooting Victim Identified; Suspects Held on $1 Million Bond

The shooting occurred late Monday night at a park on Stillwater Avenue.

Eyewitnesses who chased and then got the license plate number of the car that shooting suspects fled in are being credited for helping Stamford Police apprehend three men who have been charged with the fatal shooting of a woman as she chatted with friends in a West Side park late Monday.

The victim, identified as Maxine Gooden, 43, of Myano Lane was shot once in the torso shortly after 10 p.m. Monday as she visited with friends at the park on Sillwater Avenue, according to The Advocate.

The witnesses told police they saw two men jump into a black Jeep on Delaware Avenue that sped off. About 15 minutes later a Stamford Police officer spotted the Jeep and after several more officers arrived, the Jeep was stopped and the occupants arrested, according to the newspaper.

Police found bullets that appear to match shell casings found at the shooting scene.

Jhonel Telemin-Valerio, 21, of Lafayette Street, was charged with first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder, Deshawn Hayes, 24, of Givens Avenue, and Morris Joel Moore Jr., 23, of Cove Road, were charged with conspiracy to commit murder. They were ordered held on $1 million bond during their arraignments in state Superior Court in Stamford on Tuesday, according to the report.

A 43-year-old woman was fatally in Lione Park on Stamford’s West Side late Monday and three men reportedly are in police custody.

The suspects, all Stamford residents, were arrested minutes after the shooting was reported at 10:04 p.m., according to The Advocate.

The suspects were identified as Jhonel Telemin, 21, of Lafayette Street, who was charged with first-degree murder, and Deshawn Hayes, 24, of Givens Avenue, and Morris Joel Moore Jr., 23, of Cove Road, were charged with conspiracy to murder.

Telemin also was charged with conspiracy to murder.
