Elderly Pawcatuck Man Scammed Out Of Nearly $50K: Report

A man is facing charges in an internet-based scam that targeted a local man, according to a report.

STONINGTON, CT — A New York man is facing accusations that he scammed an elderly Pawcatuck man out of $49,500, according to The Day of New London.

Xinguang Li, 54, was charged with conspiracy to commit first-degree larceny and attempted first-degree larceny.

Police said they arrested Li when he showed up at the Pawcatuck VFW on Nov. 1 expecting to pick up $40,000 from the 74-year-old victim.
