Firefighters Battle Blaze That Heavily Damages Mystic Home
A homeowner escaped before the fire ripped through a home Thursday evening.
MYSTIC, CT — Fire destroyed a Hatch Street home Thursday night in Mystic, according to a post from the Mystic Fire Department.
The fire was reported at 5:25 p.m. Stonington police arrived at the home and found the homeowner was still inside, likely attempting to extinguish the fire, according to the Mystic Fire Department.
Police ordered the homeowner to leave the home and brought the person to EMS units.

"Due to hoarding conditions within the structure and the heavy fire conditions present, a first alarm was requested and an exterior attack was begun," according to the Mystic Fire Department.
Other fire departments assisting in extinguishing the blaze included Old Mystic, Poquonnock Bridge, Submarine Base, and Ledyard Fire Department. Stonington Police, Mystic River Ambulance, and Lawrence & Memorial Paramedics also responded.

Fire crews had to use two ladder trucks and numerous hose lines to bring the fire under control, which left the house a total loss.
The fire shut down part of Route 1 for a period of time Thursday night into Friday morning, according to the Stonington Police Department.
