"Celebrating Ava Siconolfi, recipient of the 2024 Dance Award: Distinguished Contribution to Dance Research!

Combining her studies in psychology and dance, Ava studied the interactions of jazz dance, the human brain and body, and overall well-being in her senior capstone research titled “The Mind-Body Connection: The Effects of Dance on Mental Health.” Her methodical approach captured important data situated in broader historical and cultural contexts and was a model for depth, discovery and defining one’s own research interests in relationship to the field.

For her future plans, Ava plans to gain experience as a psychological research assistant before pursuing a Master’s degree in Neuroscience.
