Man Sentenced To Prison In Fatal North Stonington Crash: Reports
A Rhode Island man was sentenced for causing a head-on accident that led to the death of a 39-year-old dad, according to reports.
NORTH STONINGTON, CT — A man was sentenced to three years in prison suspended after 13 months for causing a fatal crash in 2021 in North Stonington, WTNH News-8 reported.
James Pont, 63, of Ashaway, Rhode Island, will also serve three years of probation. A jury found him guilty of one count of negligent homicide with a motor vehicle in February, The Hartford Courant reported.
Pont was driving north on Pendleton Hill Road on Jan. 18, 2021, when he crossed the yellow lines and hit another car head-on. Ryan Poland, 39, of North Providence, Rhode Island, was killed in the accident, according to WTNH News-8.
