Mystic To Host 'Love Out Loud' Pride Celebration

The event is described as "an exuberant celebration of community, identity, and self-expression."

MYSTIC, CT — Mystic will celebrate Pride Month on Saturday, June 14, with a daylong slate of events culminating in the “Love Out Loud” Pride celebration from 3 to 7 p.m. behind the Mystic Museum of Art.

Presented by the Greater Mystic Chamber of Commerce, the event is described as “an exuberant celebration of community, identity, and self-expression.”

The celebration will include live music, Zumba with Becky, dance cardio with Vita Vigor, and drag performances by Dro Lopez, Fiercenatalia, and Felicity V. Lay. Influencer Jean Michael is also scheduled to appear.

Local food will be a highlight of the event, with offerings from Chef Renee Touponce of Port of Call and Milestone. Touponce will serve two types of empanadas she calls “my heart and soul, old memories and new.” One features squid ink and Stonington squid; the other combines beef, olives, and cheese in golden pastry.

Milestone will serve its signature single patty burger and a beet salad topped with pistachio crumble and basil oil. “We are thrilled to have the opportunity to be alongside renowned James Beard Award Finalist Renee Touponce in support of the Pride Community,” said Peter Fine, owner of Milestone.

The event is family-friendly, with earlier programming for kids and families at Union Baptist Church. An after-party will take place at Bank & Bridge Brewing from 9 to 11 p.m.

“We want everyone—residents, visitors, families, friends—to come as they are and Love Out Loud,” said Bruce Flax, president of the Greater Mystic Chamber of Commerce.
