Mystic Sailing Schooner Featured On Discovery Show

An episode of Moonshiners about the 'greatest rum runner in US history' features a Mystic-based vessel.

MYSTIC, CT — The Discovery Channel show Moonshiners will feature the Mystic sailing schooner Argia and her crew for an episode titled "The Real McCoy."

A description of the episode reads: "Moonshiners, Mark, Digger, and Tim explore the legend of Bill McCoy, the greatest rum runner in American history. Declared Public Enemy #1 by the US government, was he out for just fame and fortune, or was he a patriot standing up for what he believed in?"

The episode aired earlier this week and will be played again Tuesday at 7 p.m. It can also be streamed at The Discovery Channel (Season 13, Episode 103 of Moonshiners).

Amy Blumberg, Captain and GM of Argia said in a statement: “We are really excited about all the fantastic footage of local icon, the sailing schooner ARGIA, as well as her camera-friendly crew featured in this episode!”

Also featured in the episode are locals: author Robert McKenna who wrote "The McCoy Brothers" and Professor Stephen Jones of the University of Connecticut Maritime Studies Program.
