Pawcatuck Bank Robbery Suspect Linked To Fatal Motorcycle Crash, Police Say
A man died in a motorcycle accident in I-95 on Wednesday shortly after a bank was robbed nearby.

STONINGTON, CT — Police have confirmed that a fatal motorcycle crash on I-95 on Wednesday was connected to a bank robbery that occurred shortly before.
The robbery occurred at 11:20 a.m. at the Chelsea Groton Savings Bank in Pawcatuck.
The suspect entered the bank, implied possession of a weapon, and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Witnesses said the suspect left on a blue motorcycle.
At 11:33 a.m., state police responded to a fatal motorcycle crash on I-95 southbound near exit 91 in Stonington. The accident involved a blue Suzuki GSX-R1000 motorcycle striking the rear of a tractor-trailer.

The motorcyclist, Shawn Twomey, 52, of New Haven, was declared dead at the scene of the crash.
Police confirmed that the person who died in the crash was connected to the bank robbery earlier that morning.
The FBI is assisting local police in the investigation.
