Stonington-Mystic Lands On Best Small Towns In CT List
The seaside community scored points for its culinary scene and quaint shops, making a list of the six best small towns in the state.
STONINGTON-MYSTIC, CT — Stonington (Mystic and the Borough) have landed on a list of Connecticut's best small towns. Condé Nast Traveler named the top six small towns in the Constitution state recently.
From buttery lobster rolls to world-class art and architecture to cozy bookstores and antique shops, the list includes plenty of what makes the state's towns delightful.
The editors were specific in their inclusion of "Mystic’s eastern half belonging to Stonington, in addition to Stonington Borough (called 'the borough')" though noted that west of the river "the historic village of Noank is also worthy of inclusion on this list."

"Life imitates art, as they say," they wrote, "with Mystic welcoming a booming culinary scene in recent years (though if pizza is what you’re after, you should really go to New Haven for a slice). Today, Shipwright’s Daughter and Bravo Bravo are two of the best restaurants in Mystic; for waterfront drinks head to Red 36."
Condé Nast Traveler also praised the village's main strop lined with shops and the Velvet Mill, "a great indoor Farmers Market with several eateries, a brewery (and distillery), local boutiques, vintage shops, and more."
