Stonington Rolls Out Automatic Curbside Trash, Recycling Collection
The town is starting the new system later this month with a new handler managing the service.
STONINGTON, CT – The Town of Stonington will roll out a new automated curbside trash and recycling collection system starting March 31. The town’s new hauler, CWPM, LLC, will manage the service.
Residents must place household trash in official Stonington Pay-As-You-Throw yellow bags, then place the bags in the new 95-gallon carts at the curb by 6:30 a.m. Trash will be collected weekly.
Recycling will be collected every other week. Recyclables should be loose, not bagged, and placed in the designated 95-gallon cart.

Carts will begin arriving on March 31 and may take a few weeks to be delivered to all 7,666 households.
The switch comes after longtime hauler Crandall Disposal unexpectedly retired. The town negotiated a contract with CWPM at a lower cost than the previous hauler’s proposed budget.
