Tropical Storm Henri Made Landfall Near Stonington, Town Reports
With sustained winds of 60 MPH, town urged residents to stay home until the storm has passed.
STONINGTON, CT — Tropical Storm Henri made landfall just before 1 p.m. with sustained winds of 60 MPH, town officials said. More than 1,200 local residents are without power as of 2:25 p.m. Sunday.
The National Hurricane Center says landfall was on the RI/CT border near Westerly. Residents in Osbrook Point on the Pawcatuck River, where Westerly is a stone's throw, observed what they said was the eye of the storm.
Meanwhile, the town is asking folks to "please stay home."

"We are asking you to please stay home until the storm has passed. You are putting both your own lives at risk, and that of our first responders," a message to the community form the town reads.

The town says: "When you do go back on the road remember if a light is out, please treat it as a four way stop. Please always stay clear of downed power lines." And if you encounter a downed line, call Stonington police at 860-599-4411.
Pawcatuck resident Matt Butcka, who'd been sharing video on the Stonington Community Forum Facebook page, posted a video he said that captures the eye of Tropical Storm Henri passing over Osbrook Point near the Pawcatuck River bordering Westerly, RI just before 1 p.m. Sunday.
