2 Arrested In Drug Bust In Stratford: Police

Police said the Narcotics, Vice & Intelligence Unit was conducting "proactive surveillance" in the area.

STRATFORD, CT — Two people were arrested in connection with a drug deal Wednesday in Stratford, according to police.

The Stratford Police Department’s Narcotics, Vice & Intelligence Unit was conducting “proactive surveillance” on Honeyspot Road in the area of the Honeyspot Motel, according to Capt. Jerry Pinto.

Pinto said detectives saw a narcotics transaction take place between a female pedestrian and a man driving a green Honda.

The woman was detained after the narcotics transaction took place, and Pinto said detectives conducted a motor vehicle stop of the Honda several blocks away.

The driver was identified as Gregory Shawn Thompson, and both were arrested, according to Pinto.

The 32-year-old woman was arrested on charges of illegal possession of crack cocaine – second offense, tampering with evidence, and violation of conditions of release. She was held in lieu of a $10,000 bond with a court date of Nov. 4.

Thompson, 21, was arrested on charges of illegal sales of crack cocaine, criminal possession of ammunition, illegal possession of a high capacity magazine, violation of a protective order, misuse of a registration plate, operating an unregistered motor vehicle and operating a motor vehicle with no insurance. He was held in lieu of a $75,000 bond and was scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.
