Cat Adoption Events Temporarily Canceled At Stratford Animal Control

The animal control announced that all cat adoptions and open house events are canceled until next month. Here's what to know.

STRATFORD, CT — The Stratford Animal Control announced Wednesday that all of its cat adoption events are canceled until August.

“Due to a recent ringworm outbreak, all cat adoptions and open house events are temporarily paused until August 4th to protect both our animals and the community,” the animal control wrote in a post on Facebook. “Ringworm is a highly contagious fungal infection (despite the name—no worms involved!) that spreads easily between animals and humans. For everyone’s safety, the affected cats are now under quarantine and receiving the treatment and care they need to recover fully.

“We know this is disappointing—especially for those hoping to bring home a new feline friend—but your patience allows us to heal them with dignity and keep everyone safe.
