4 Displaced From Home After Fire In Stratford
Crews extinguished a house fire Thursday afternoon in Stratford.

STRATFORD, CT — Four people were displaced from their home after a fire Thursday afternoon in Stratford, according to officials.
The American Red Cross is helping two families – three adults and one child – after a fire in the 100 block of Canaan Road in Stratford, according to officials.
A total of 22 firefighters responded to the scene around 2:35 p.m. after a 911 call reported a structure fire on Canaan Road.

“Upon arrival of the first due apparatus, crews entered immediately and quickly found the source of the fire and aggressively worked to contain the fire to the area of origin and limit damage to the unaffected areas,” officials wrote in a news release. “Rescue crews quickly entered the residence and conducted a search of the home on all floors for occupants all of which had self evacuated. Station coverage was provided by the Bridgeport and Milford Fire Departments while all on duty units extinguished the fire. Stratford EMS was on scene for incident support due to the cold weather conditions.”
The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Stratford Fire Marshal’s office.

“The Stratford Fire Department would like to remind our residents to have working smoke detectors, regularly practice an escape plan for residential homes, and call 911 immediately upon observation of smoke or fire,” officials wrote.
