DUI Stratford Man Charged In Wrong-Way Crash On I-95: State Police

A DUI driver from Stratford was arrested after a wrong-way crash on I-95, according to state police.

DARIEN, CT — A Stratford man was arrested after police said he was driving the wrong way while under the influence of alcohol in a multi-vehicle crash on I-95 in Darien early Sunday morning.

State troopers responded around 3:15 a.m. on Nov. 24 to a multi-vehicle crash on I-95 North just before the rest area in Darien, according to Connecticut State Police.

Police said troopers saw that one of the vehicles involved in the crash was facing the wrong way. Further investigation determined that the vehicle, a Jeep Liberty SUV, was traveling southbound in the northbound travel lanes before the crash, according to police.

The driver of the Jeep Liberty was identified by his New Jersey driver's license as 36-year-old Ramon Tusa Llivicosa of Stratford, according to police.

“Tusa Llivicosa explained to Troopers on scene that he had consumed alcohol prior to the collision, was not injured and was traveling from Norwalk to New Jersey,” police wrote in a news release. “None of the other parties involved reported injuries from the accident.”

Police said Tusa Llivicosa failed a field sobriety test and was arrested without incident.

Tusa Llivicosa was charged with illegal operation of a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs and driving the wrong way on a divided highway. He was released after posting a 1,000 bond with a court date of Dec. 17.
