Homeowner Fires Shots At Suspected Car Thieves: Stratford Police

A homeowner exchanged gunfire with suspected car thieves, and several shots fired by the suspects struck the home, according to police.

STRATFORD, CT — Police are investigating after a homeowner exchanged gunfire with suspected car thieves early Tuesday morning in Stratford.

Police responded around 4:30 a.m. to the 200 block of Burritt Avenue on the report of a disturbance, according to Capt. Jerry Pinto.

Pinto said officers determined that the homeowner had exchanged gunfire with at least two suspects who may have been trying to steal one of his vehicles that were parked in his driveway.

Several gunshot rounds fired by the suspect(s) hit the homeowner’s residence, according to Pinto.

There were no reported injuries as of Tuesday morning, according to Pinto.

Pinto said the suspects fled the area in an unknown vehicle.
