Jet Skier Killed In Crash In Stratford

A fatal crash involving a jet skier is being investigated by the state DEEP's EnCon Police Department.

STRATFORD, CT — A jet skier was killed in a crash on the Housatonic River in Stratford on Wednesday night, according to officials.

The state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection’s EnCon police responded to an area near Sikorsky Aircraft around 10 p.m. on Wednesday on the report of a crash.

Officers found the overturned jet ski along the west bank of the river, according to James Fowler of the DEEP.

Fowler said the operator, an adult male, was found a short distance away and was pronounced dead at the scene. Information on the operator was being held pending notification of next of kin.

“DEEP’s EnCon Police Boating Accident Reconstruction Unit and Investigative Unit responded to assist in the investigation,” Fowler wrote in a news release. “Local agencies, including Shelton FD, Stratford FD, Sikorsky Fire and Milford Police, also provided support.”
