Leigh Danenberg Jr., 92 of Milford, passed peacefully on Feb. 28,2025

He will be remembered for his sharp mind, strong work ethic, and the legacy he built through both his career and the generations that follow

Leigh Danenberg Jr., 92 of Milford, died at his home shared with his wife of 70 years, Charlotte Ann Southard Danenberg, on February 28, 2025. He was born on March 24, 1932, at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City to the late Leigh Danenberg Sr. and Elsie Nicholas Danenberg.


In 1933, his family moved to Easton, Connecticut, where he spent his early childhood on Sport Hill Road, in a brick house designed by his mother, Elsie. He fondly remembered the wild blueberry fields that stretched next to their home.

He attended Samuel Staples Elementary School. During World War II, with both his parents serving as war correspondents, Leigh spent two years at Cherry Lawn Boarding School.
He graduated from Valley Forge Military Academy. He enrolled at the University of Bridgeport, where he earned his Bachelor's degree in 1955 and met his future wife. During his sophomore year, he pledged Pi Omega Chi, a local fraternity. He was a reporter for The Scribe and became the school's Social Activity chairman.

On August 1, 1954, Leigh married Ann at Groton Congregational Church, and they had three children.

Leigh began his career in 1955 working alongside his father at The Sunday Herald after graduating. From 1970 to 1972, Leigh worked at Web Comp in Bridgeport. In 1972, he co-founded Herald Graphics in Stratford with three partners. He then established his own company, Graphic Image, in 1979. In 1983, he moved the business to Milford, where it has continued to thrive under the leadership of his son Randy and grandson Peter.

Leigh is survived by his devoted wife Charlotte Ann Danenberg, son Randall Danenberg (Carol), son Leigh David Danenberg, and daughter Lisbeth Toth (Joseph). Six grandchildren: Aaron Danenberg (Talita), Seth Danenberg (Brittany), Peter Danenberg, Jon Danenberg, Katharine Toth (Conan), and Joey Toth. Three great grandchildren: Owen, CeCe, and Charlotte. As well as his sister Darryl Kestler (Skip) and nieces and nephews. Leigh is predeceased by his three sisters: Shirley Manasevit, Dale Scrutchfield, and Elsa Danenberg.

The family would like to thank his long term caregiver Imogine Smith and home maintenance by Angel Morales and his wife Teresa.

Family and friends are invited to gather on Sunday, March 9, 2025, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 Broad Street, Milford. A Celebration of Life Service will begin at 2:30 p.m. Interment will be held privately by the family.
