Man, Dog Found Dead In Home After Eviction Notice Served: Stratford Police
Police said two gunshots were heard inside the home right after the resident had been told that an eviction process was about to take place.
STRATFORD, CT — A 70-year-old man and his dog were found dead with gunshot wounds to their heads after an eviction notice was served Wednesday morning in Stratford, according to police.
Police responded to Columbus Avenue on the report of gunshots, according to Capt. Jerry Pinto.
Pinto said patrol officers arrived and were told that two gunshots were heard inside the home right after the 70-year-old resident had been told that an eviction process was about to take place.

“Patrol Officers immediately backed away and secured a perimeter around the home,” Pinto wrote in a news release. “The Special Response Team was summoned to the scene and were able to send a drone inside of the home to gain further intelligence.”
Pinto said the drone made it possible for officers to determine that the resident and his dog were most likely dead.

“At this point, SRT made entry into the home and confirmed the death of the resident and his dog,” Pinto wrote. “Detective Bureau personnel have determined that the resident and his dog died of gunshot wounds to their heads.
“A .45 caliber firearm was found close to the deceased resident.”
