Mark Filanowksi

Mark lived an exceptional and blessed life surrounded not just by family who loved him, but many of you, his beloved customers...

Mark Lewis Filanowski, 93 of Milford, beloved husband of the late Joan Filanowski, passed away peacefully on March 5, 2025, on his farm while surrounded by family. Born on August 7, 1931, on his family farm to the late Marko and Victoria Filanowski.

Mark lived an exceptional and blessed life surrounded not just by family who loved him, but many of you, his beloved customers, who became like family!

Mark was one of 8 children. His mother, Victoria Wahnicki, and father, Marko Filanowski, were polish immigrants. They bought the family Farm in the early 1900’s. In those times, they farmed the fields growing an array of fruits and vegetables that they would either truck and sell in Bronx, NY or at the Farm Fruit stand located for many years on Bridgeport Ave.

In 1952, Mark married the love of his life, Joan Schmidt Filanowski, together they ran and farmed the fields. They had five beautiful daughters Joanne, Barbie, Maryann, Teresa, and Jackie, who worked hard as young kids picking the fields and selling the produce. Filanowski farm is 5 generations strong, and we will continue to build upon his legacy!

Mark also loved his polish heritage and polish food, stuffed cabbage definitely ranking as a fave! He enjoyed hunting with brothers, good friends, cousins and visiting his home away from home in Northern Maine.

He also loved antiquing and shopping at Mardens with his wife Joan over the years and became quite the collector of things! If Gramp’s house didn’t have what you needed you probably didn’t need it that bad after all. Mark was beyond loved by his whole family and all who knew him.

Mark is survived by his five beloved children: Joanne Filanowski Stonona, Barbara Filanowski Gladue, MaryAnn Filanowski, Teresa Filanowski Kristopik (Paul), and Jacqueline Filanowski Allen (Anthony). Fifteen grandchildren: Karen Stonoha, Laura Palatiello (Alexei), Brian Gladue (Carrie), Christopher Gladue (Heather), Arthur “A.J.” Gladue, Frankie Polumbo III, Samantha Palumbo, Megan Allen, Anthony Allen Jr. (Kayla), Nicholas Allen (Emma), Diana Cowan (Matt), Brandon Allen, Jack Allen, Thomas Allen, Joannie Allen, and Maria Gallant. Ten great grandchildren: Jared, Devin, Christopher Jr., Cody, Frankie III, Braeden, Brooke, Hunter, Nicole, and Benedict. As well as many additional beloved nieces, nephews, family and friends.
