Obituary: Connie T. Silver, 76, of Stratford

Connie was previously employed by Avco Lycoming in Stratford, was an active member of the community and cherished spending time with family.

STRATFORD, CT - (From Pistey Funeral Home) Connie T. Silver of Stratford, CT passed away peacefully on April 1, 2022 in her home. She was the loving widow of Stanley Silver. Born in 1945 in NYC to the late Nunzio and Bessie Iovino.

She was a resident of Stratford since 1959.Connie graduated from Julia Richman HS in Manhattan in 1952. She worked at Macmillan Publishing NYC, Interstate Uniform and retired from Avco Lycoming in Stratford.

Connie also volunteered at the Red Cross and St James Church.

Connie adored her family, loved babysitting her grandchildren and being called “Nani”.

She was grateful for her wonderful husband, caring family and dear friends. She loved to laugh and share her joy of cooking with everyone.

Survivors include her sons, Joseph Mariano of Shelton CT and John (Marie) Mariano of Phoenix AZ; daughter-in-law, Catherine Mariano of Shelton CT; grandchildren, Gina (Stephanie) Mariano of MA, Angela Mariano (Kevin Bott) of Shelton, Anthony (Candice) Mariano and John Mariano (Anguri Joshi) of Phoenix; brother, Anthony Iovino (Diane) of Indiana; nephew, Philip Iovino, and niece, Danielle Iovino, of IN.

The family would like to thank Connie’s loving care giver Monica Awuah.

Special thanks to Cathy Mariano and granddaughter Angela for all of their love and care for the past few years, and all her wonderful neighbors on Brightwood Ave.

Their kindness and compassion were greatly appreciated by her and her family. They regularly checked in on her, provided meals, transportation, did yard work, and most importantly provided friendship.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 18, 2022 at 10 a.m. at St James Catholic Church in Stratford. A private burial will take place immediately afterward.

In lieu of flowers, Connie requests donations be made to either St Jude’s Children’s Hospital or AT Children’s Project.
