Obituary: Daniel Jon Reilly, 47; Formerly Of Stratford
Dan will be remembered as a stormy force of brilliance and love, with a pure childlike heart and a brighter than bright intellect.
STRATFORD, CT - (From Wallingford Funeral Home): Daniel Jon Reilly, 47, of Huntington, NY, formerly of Stratford, CT, passed away unexpectedly, December 4, 2021 at his home.
Daniel was born in Bridgeport, May 20, 1974, a son of the late James J. and Katherine (Doran) Reilly.
Dan grew up in Stratford, CT and attended Eli Whitney Elementary School, Flood Middle School and Bunnell High School. He also attended Southern Connecticut State University and was a graduate with honors from Castleton University in Castleton, VT.
Dan attended a great many shows and worked and participated in several theatre groups and organizations. He traveled the country and made his home in many places. He loved so many things in this life.
Without question if you knew Dan you knew of his passions: The Grateful Dead, so much music, cooking, theatre, especially Shakespeare, all things nostalgia and his nieces and nephews to name a few!
He will be remembered as a stormy force of brilliance and love, with a pure childlike heart, a brighter than bright intellect, the gift of eternal gab and a storyteller like no other!
Dan is survived by his mother, Kathy Reilly and her husband Leon DiMartino of Southbury, CT ; his siblings, Patrick Reilly and his wife Geri of Stamford, CT; Kate Lenehan of Middletown, CT and her children, Brianne of Manning, SC and Sean and Brendan of Middletown, CT; and Colleen Reilly and her children, Torin and Katherine Montgomery of Kirkland, WA; his uncle, John Doran and his wife Jodie Chase of Hernando, FL and uncle, Ronald Reekie of Lynchburg, VA as well as his many loving cousins and friends.
He is predeceased by his paternal uncle, George P Reilly and his paternal aunt, Mary (Reilly) Varhol; and his maternal Aunt, Patricia (Grady) Reekie.
Dan’s family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St. Ext., Wallingford, CT, on Saturday, December 18th, from 1 to 3 pm.
A prayer service will be held in the funeral home at 3pm. Interment will be private in New York.
In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory may be sent to a Youth Theatre or Mental Health Charity of your choice.
