Obituary: Georgeann Mary Parkes, 81, of Stratford
Georgeann, a loving wife, mother and grandmother, cherished her time with family and worked as a teacher in the Bridgeport school system.
STRATFORD, CT - (From Dennis & D'Arcy Funeral Home) Georgeann Mary Parkes, age 81 of Stratford passed away Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at Lord Chamberlain Nursing Center. She was the widow of Robert James Parkes.
Born in Bridgeport on February 20, 1940, she was a daughter of the late George and Ethel Fahey Rottler. Georgeann went to Lauralton Hall and was a graduate of Southern Connecticut State University where she earned her teaching degree.
She was a teacher for the Bridgeport Board of Education and later worked as a retail associate for J.C. Penney for many years. Georgeann enjoyed attending weekly mass at Our Lady of Grace Church, going on vacations and spending time with her family and friends.
She was a caring and loving mother to her four children; Christopher Parkes of Milford, Mary (Michael) Takacs of Stratford, Sean (Dianne) Parkes of Shelton and Timothy (Jennifer DiVencenzo) Parkes of Stratford.
She adored her four grandchildren; Emma Parkes, Greta Parkes, Jack Parkes and Carolyn Takacs, her brother, Robert Rottler and sister, Marilyn Barker, as well as Jen’s children DJ and Max.
She is also survived by several cousins, nieces and nephews and her lifelong friends, Jeanne Gardecki and Lesley Schwimmer.
The family would like to thank, Stratford VNA, Lord Chamberlain and CT Hospice for the dedicated care to Georgeann, and a very special thank you to her home caregivers; Patty, Mimi, Carmi and Theresa, for their compassionate and loving care.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 meeting directly at Our Lady of Grace Roman Catholic Church at 11:00 AM with Monsignor Ryan officiating.
Interment will follow in Nichols Farms Burial Ground. Friends may greet the family on Monday, December 27,2021 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Dennis & D’Arcy – Abriola & Kelemen Funeral Home, 2611 Main Street, Stratford.
