Obituary: ​Joan A. Williams, 90, of Stratford

STRATFORD, CT - (From Dennis & D'Arcy Funeral Home) Joan A. Williams, age 90, of Stratford passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, September 6, 2021. She was the widow of Martin Williams.

Born in Bridgeport on December 3, 1930 she was a daughter of the late Herbert and Agnes (Throp) McMellon. Joan was a graduate of Bridgeport Hospital School of Nursing (1951) and worked there for many years.

Joan loved to bake and will always be remembered for her "famous" scones. She loved to read and do crafts and was an avid Red Sox and Lady Huskies fan. Her favorite time was the annual vacation in Stone Harbor, New Jersey with family and friends.

Joan is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Thomas and Lynne of Stratford, two daughters Michelle and Susan of Stratford, two grandchildren Hannah and Kathryn and her husband Michael Parlitsis and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may greet the family on Friday, September 10, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Dennis & D'Arcy - Abriola & Kelemen Funeral Home, 2611 Main St. Stratford CT 06615. A Funeral Service will be held for Joan at the funeral home following the calling hour at 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, "Memorial Giving" 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
