Obituary: Richard D. Murphy, 76, of Stratford
Richard, a loving and devoted husband and brother, was a dedicated math teacher at Stratford High School for 39 years.
STRATFORD, CT - (From Adzima Funeral Home) Richard D. Murphy, age 76, of Stratford, beloved husband of Suzanne Mitnik Murphy, passed away on July 30, 2021 in Bridgeport Hospital.
Richard was born in Bridgeport on October 16, 1944 to the late Thomas and Mary (Duff) Murphy and had been a lifelong area resident.
He was graduate of Notre Dame High School, Bridgeport class of 1962, and earned both bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Fairfield University.
Richard was retired from Stratford High School where he taught math for 39 years.
Survivors in addition to his beloved wife of 54 years, include his devoted siblings, Carolyn M. Agoglia of Stratford, and John C. Murphy of Torrington, 3 nephews, James Agoglia, and Jonathan and Joshua Murphy.
In addition to his parents, Richard was pre-deceased by his niece, Luani Agoglia.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, August 5th at 11 a.m. meeting directly at Our Lady of Grace Church, 497 Second Hill Lane Stratford.
Due to the rising Covid-19 concerns, masks will be required at Our Lady of Grace. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Adzima Funeral Home-Stratford.
