Officials Identify Naugatuck Man Killed in Stratford Airport Saw Accident
The accident occurred at Sikorsky Memorial Airport on Thursday.

Officials have identified Antonio Simoes, 57, of Naugatuck, as the man who was killed in Thursday’s saw accident at Sikorsky Memorial Airport, the New Haven Register reported.
Simoes, who worked for Manaford Construction, suffered a fatal laceration to his neck when a gasoline-powered saw kicked back and hit him, the Register reported. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigation is ongoing.
The worker was using the saw to cut a water main pipe, which is a project that’s part of ongoing safety upgrades expected to be completed this fall, when the incident happened around 8 a.m., the Register reported.

The accident forced the airport to close due to a portion of its water supply being cut off, leaving no fire suppression ability, the Register reported. It reopened at 5 p.m. Thursday and was expected to operate normally Friday
