Owner Arrested After Emaciated Dog Abandoned In Stratford: Police
Police said the dog suffered from a "massive flea infestation" and her ribs were clearly visible and "protruding out" from her body.
STRATFORD, CT — A New Haven man faces an animal cruelty charge after his emaciated dog was found abandoned in Stratford over the summer, according to police.
Stratford Animal Control Officers impounded a “severely malnourished dog” that was found abandoned in the 300 block of Access Road on Aug. 4, according to Capt. Jerry Pinto.
Pinto said the dog’s ribs were “clearly visible and protruding out from its body.”

The dog suffered from a “massive flea infestation” that resulted in the dog’s fur becoming stained with its own blood, according to Pinto.
The gray female Pitbull was named “Ember” by the Stratford Animal Control, according to Pinto.

Pinto said an investigation by Detective Jennifer Murolo found that Darryl Hinton was Ember’s owner and was “responsible for her emaciated condition.”
Hinton, 36, was arrested Monday on a warrant and charged with cruelty to animals. He was released after posting a $100 bond with a court date of Nov. 6.
