Rescued Puppy Needed Leg Amputated: Stratford Animal Control

The puppy was found with an elastic band around his leg that "ate through the fur, skin and flesh exposing bone," according to officials.

STRATFORD, CT — The Stratford Animal Control is trying to raise funds to help cover the costs for a puppy that needed an amputation surgery.

The puppy, named “Moo,” was found on Huntington Road when he was about 1 week old and dropped off at the emergency veterinarian while animal control officers were not on duty, according to a fundraising page from the Stratford Animal Rescue Society.

Moo was found with an elastic band around his leg that “ate through the fur, skin and flesh exposing bone,” according to the post.

Moo has been in foster care for the past few months and has been “growing strong while receiving love, attention, enrichment and special care,” according to the Stratford Animal Rescue Society.

He needed a second surgery to amputate the rest of his leg, which cost $1,800, according to the rescue.

In an update on Facebook, the Stratford Animal Control said, “Moo is back from the vet after his second surgery. He is doing really well and running around already. Unfortunately, we still need to raise about $750.00 more to cover the procedure.”
