Family:
My wife Joan and I have been married for 50 years, and we’ve made Stratford our home for decades. We have two wonderful daughters who also live here — Lisa Carroll Fabian and her husband Keith, and Meghan White and her husband Jerome. We’re very proud grandparents to four amazing grandchildren: Paige, Taylor, Miles, and Colin. Family means everything to me, and it’s one of the main reasons I care so deeply about the future of our town.

Does anyone in your family work in politics or government?
No

Previous public office, appointive or elective:
Recreation Commission and Stratford BOE Plant and Planning Committee

Why are you seeking this office?
I’m seeking a position on the Zoning Board because I care deeply about how Stratford grows and develops. As the former Business Manager of IBEW Local 488 and President of the Connecticut Building Trades, I understand the importance of responsible planning, safety, and preserving the character of our community. I want to ensure that every project is reviewed with transparency — keeping residents informed about what’s coming before the board and listening to the people in the neighborhoods most affected. My goal is balanced growth that supports progress and opportunity while protecting our quality of life.

The single most pressing issue facing my constituents is ____, and this is what I intend to do about it:
The single most pressing issue facing my constituents is managing overdevelopment while preserving the quality of life we value in Oronoque and across Stratford. As our town grows, residents deserve a voice in the decisions that shape their neighborhoods. I’m running to ensure that the Zoning Board listens to the people directly impacted — keeping development responsible, transparent, and respectful of our community’s character.

What are the major differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?
The major difference I bring to the Zoning Board is a strong commitment to transparency, accountability, and following the rules — values that protect taxpayers and build trust in local government. My experience as the former Business Manager of IBEW Local 488 and President of the Fairfield County Building Trades has taught me the importance of process, fairness, and collaboration to achieve results that benefit the entire community.

I believe zoning decisions should always be made carefully, with input from residents and consideration of long-term impacts. My goal is to ensure development in Stratford is responsible, transparent, and serves the needs of all neighborhoods — supporting growth while protecting the quality of life that makes our town a great place to live.

What other issues do you intend to address during your campaign?
In addition to responsible growth and zoning, I am committed to promoting inclusion and ensuring every voice in our community is heard.

What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?
I believe my past leadership roles demonstrate that I have the experience and skills to serve effectively on the Zoning Board. I served as Business Manager of IBEW Local 488 for 13½ years, where I oversaw complex operations, managed contracts, and balanced the needs of workers, contractors, and the community. I also served 10 years as President of the Fairfield County Building Trades, leading diverse groups, negotiating agreements, and ensuring projects were safe, fair, and well-managed. Additionally, I have been the Commissioner of High School Basketball for 41 years, a role that has honed my skills in organization, fairness, and working collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders. These experiences have prepared me to handle the responsibilities of the Zoning Board with integrity, transparency, and a focus on the community.

What is the best advice anyone ever gave you?
The best advice I ever received is: always be honest. Honesty builds trust, strengthens relationships, and ensures that decisions are made with integrity. I try to live by this principle in every part of my life.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about yourself and your positions?
I want voters to know that I care deeply about our community and the quality of life we all share. I am committed to responsible growth, transparency, and ensuring that every resident has a voice in decisions that affect their neighborhoods. My goal is to serve Stratford with integrity, fairness, and a focus on making our town a safe, vibrant, and welcoming place for everyone.
