Stratford Police Chief Resigns Effective Immediately, Mayor Announces
Mayor Laura Hoydick has appointed an acting police chief, effectively immediately.
STRATFORD, CT — Stratford Police Chief Joseph McNeil submitted his resignation on Tuesday, effective immediately, Mayor Laura R. Hoydick announced.
In a news release, Hoydick noted that McNeil served the Town of Stratford with longstanding dedication and commitment and thanked him for his “service to the community and his contributions to public safety.”
Hoydick has appointed Deputy Chief Paul DosSantos as Acting Police Chief. His term is effective immediately.

Hoydick said DosSantos brings “substantial experience, institutional knowledge, and a demonstrated commitment to the residents of Stratford.”
She also emphasized “police operations will continue without interruption and commitment to supporting the department, maintaining the highest standards of safety and professionalism throughout the transition,” according to the news release.

“I thank Joseph McNeil for his many years of service to the Town and to our residents,” Hoydick said. “I am proud to appoint Chief DosSantos, a highly respected members of the department who has earned the trust of their colleagues and the community. He will lead with integrity, professionalism, and a deep commitment to public safety.”
