Stratford Resident Scores Collegiate Career High In Playoff Loss

The Stratford High School graduate reached the career mark in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference semifinals.

STRATFORD, CT — Stratford’s Jayquan Kirkland scored a career-high 26 points off the bench in the Albertus Magnus College men’s basketball team’s 85-71 loss to Saint Joseph's College in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Semifinals on Thursday.

Kirkland, a Stratford High School graduate, hit a career-high five 3-pointers while also grabbing three rebounds. He also added two steals and a block.

Avery Hinnant, of Naugatuck, recorded his second-straight double-double this postseason with 10 points and 13 rebounds.

Ta'zhon Daniels, of New Haven, added 12 points with five assists.

Albertus Magnus fell to 16-11 with the loss, while Saint Joseph’s improved to 13-1.
