Stratford Schools Will Have to Cut the Budget By $1.5M
Budget cuts mean possible, but likely job cuts for the district.

Stratford Board of Education will now have to make $1.5 million in cuts because the budget was set lower than expected, the Stratford Star reported. The Town Council voted to approve the 2015-16 spending plan, which includes over $99 million for the school district.
The school board will have to make some tough decisions in order to get the budget on track, which could include some staff cuts, according to the Star.
Cuts to the budget of about $1 million have already been made, which includes staff at the central office and schools, including teachers at Stratford and Bunnell high schools, the Star reported. Another $500,000 might have to be cut, and may mean cutting more teachers at high schools, which would lead to larger class sizes.
